Looking forward to more than just resolutions
It’s been a while since we blogged or just casually penned down in black and white. Family, friends and few acquaintances lately started questioning us on why we have stopped posting any. We definitely had a couple of reasons, rather answers to shoot but little to speak out.
Post 45 days
Relaxing in the back seat of a car with legs crossed, one hand folded behind the head, the other holding “Second chance” by Jane Green, I enjoyed reading while on a 800 km ride with my family. I happened to just stop for a moment, look up though the window to see the best combination of green plantations and sun kissed sky and started to reminisce.
After plunging into thoughts, that is when I decided how this new year would be a more productive, happy and ultimately a better one.
“Experience is the best teacher”. So I thought, more than taking casual resolutions and dumping them later, I would rather make sure I won’t repeat any previous mistakes this year. Through collectively gathered experiences, I would share with you 6 unique new year resolutions which make you a better person.
New year resolutions #1 : Do not let unwanted thoughts and suggestions demotivate you.
No matter how strong you are, a small “what if?” might deter your confidence. Externally, any person- friends, family or some random guy who cares for you might utter something which questions your success. Do not let any of this stop you from what you are doing and confident about.
New year resolutions #2 : Be a minimalist
All of us are born minimalists. With time, we start getting influenced by people, movies, a discussion that you’ve eavesdropped and whatnot! Take a break. Dump all the clutter you’ve gathered. Be simple. Dress simple. Throw all the stuff you piled up which you thought might be useful but never actually did. Live more in less. Not just because it rhymes, but simplicity most of the times seems to be the best policy.
New year resolutions #3 : Make smart choices
Decision making is one of the difficult tasks a person has to take. Though there are a lot of possibilities, we often restrict ourselves to stay in our comfort zones and pick out reasons for that. It’s time you need to make a smart choice and dare to do something. Be smart enough to choose the right thing when you have to. Sometimes you need to choose people over deeds or viceversa depending on priorities. Remember, to sustain in this big bad world, you need to make smart choices and not just walk away from them.
New year resolutions #4: Know your job on social media
“Reduce your time on social media” is a clichéd suggestion which annoys everybody. A more better suggestion would be to know the reason behind every minute of your social media visit. If you have to pass info, do that and exit. If you are to share a post, share and don’t wait for the number likes to scale up or any comment to pop up. Because for a creator or youtuber, social media is like a second home and that is a part of their job. Whereas for a normal student, it is a form of entertainment or a source of knowledge.
New year resolutions #5 : You are not born to impress.
These days, Instagram and Facebook are flooded with stories and posts of people sharing almost every basic moment of their day. Everyone of us have had this thought in our mind- Let’s just click a picture here, post it on Instagram and then leave. Wait. Did you go there to feel the air or tell people that you’ve been there? Did you do something because you wanted to or because you wanted everyone to know that you’ve done it? “Live” what you do, not go “live(online)” to show what you do.
New year resolutions #6 : Read as much as you can
When I say read, it just doesn’t mean to read novels or newspapers. It’s to read any piece of information you find. Any article on the net, magazines, notices, anything you find. Because at one point of time you will notice what you lack. The difference between a reader and a non reader is unbridgeable. Readers are curious, knowledgeable and are obsessed to know more beyond their potential. Non readers usually broadcast than absorb and run empty. It is only when you start reading, that you will know the difference between “you” and the “old you”. Let us know what you found.
So, these are the kind of new year resolutions for students which I intended to take up this year ASAP and hopefully follow them. Because, I know, no matter what I do to enhance productivity, these will undoubtedly do the job.
If you think they would help you too, we’re grateful! Let us know if they did. Thanks in advance😀.
Buckle up for a better year- Cheers!
