Remember that Sunday, you’ve so badly wanted to finish up your assignment in the morning, clean up your room in the afternoon and watch that movie at night. But then at 3 in the afternoon you realize that you have been lying in the couch, with the remote on your belly and watching “F.R.I.E.N.D.S”, literally the whole freaking day! And you know that this is not just one day. It’s your every day tasks that slowly stack up and then you hurry up right before the deadlines. But if you have decided to change this lazy ass routine of yours this semester, then waste no time. Here’s how to begin and stay productive this semester.
#1 To stay productive this semester – Be a “planner”
I know it sounds pretty dope to hear people saying “Just go with the flow and don’t worry about the future” but having a plan never hurt ain’t no one! Have a monthly, weekly, daily planners if needed. The best way is to start a bullet journal. Spend some time everyday tracking your habits, upcoming tests or assignments. There is scientific study which proves that people who write down their plans and goals are 40% more probable in achieving them.
- Write down all the goals you have for this semester in a book or a paper and stick it to the wall.
- Use apps such as Google keep or Google calendar which send reminders to your phone about the task at hand.
- Be realistic with your plan because you don’t have to impress any one with your smart planner, you just have to finish the tasks.
#2 To stay productive this semester – Fall into a routine
” Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going” – Jim Ryun
It’s hard to start something new every single day and then create a mindset to follow it. More often than not, when this happens we hardly follow up on our work. But if you want to continue giving your best every single day of this semester then create an action plan and make it a routine. If you have Monday afternoon off every week then decide a task and do it at the same time every single week. This way you don’t have to waste time devising plan for every day.
- Find sources of motivation to keep you going when you feel you are slacking off.
- Attach a reward at the end of your task, this leads to a more healthy work ethic.
#3 To stay productive this semester – Prioritize
Have you ever thought, Staying out of social media might buy you time to attend the guitar classes you dreamed of! When the work you are doing isn’t either necessary nor giving you joy then there is no point wasting your time doing it. While on a diet, if you decide to take just a bite of a chocolate then there is a higher probability that you will eat it completely. Here the chocolate is the unnecessary task. The best solution is to eliminate it completely. When you slowly start to de-clutter your life of all the unnecessary tasks then you will realize you have plenty of time to do the important things. This will help you to stay focused on the task at hand and also to create time for the things that give you joy.
