Hey! what’s up? Keeping up with your resolutions this year? Now, how many of you have taken a resolution to lose weight, hit the gym, go Zumba-ing or survive on a low diet (IK! That’s more difficult than passing prelims for IAS in India). Yeah, if you’re raising your hands responding to the above, take a break, lower your hands, I know you are high on a boost that you don’t even want to lose this little chance to stretch. You freakin’ fitness freaks! (Don’t mind).Enough of this, I’m trying to be serious now. Let me! Is it okay to be fat?
Firstly, who among you have decided to do this with a happy start but not out of frustration or anger? And only because you want to maintain good health? For all those who didn’t stretch now, this is on, to and for you! (I’m one among you. Handshake!)
Now I shall start, Hey family! I am a 56 kg sack of
flesh and blood. That’s how people see me right? I’m okay with it. Before we continue with this, let us go further and rewind back 4 years deep into history. Aye, 4 years is so deep in the history. Takes time! In the meantime, I’ll tell you a story.
STORY OF A HUMONGOUS CHANGE
Typical South Indian she was. However, you may describe her: soft-hearted, submissive, docile, emotional, sensitive, introverted, unsocializable, anything. A few called her motu(fat), fatty, stout, overweighted, over healthy and whatnot. Wherever she went, she was unconfident of her physique. The other same-aged girls were complimented for their so-termed “perfect hourglass or pear-shaped” bodies whereas she was called a potato. None of the malls satisfied her with better clothes. Shopping instead of being a pleasure was a hell of a time for her and people accompanying her. She was denied for any extracurricular in school- drama, dance or sports competitions as they felt she was too healthy for any. Socializing was an ineligible option in her exam of life. She kept on losing marks as she could not choose. People she knew, kith and kin, strangers, everybody she thought of on this planet mocked her for how she was.
Confined to her own world, she was alone except for that one person who indicated hope. “A day would come where you’ll no longer worry about how you are! The unhealthy part of your world would be jealous!”, exclaimed her dad. As time passed by, two years later, she was awarded ‘Miss Fresher’ for the best appearance at college. At a family function, a couple came to her dad and said, ”You really have a beautiful bride-to-be!” He looked at her daughter and smiled.
Time changes everything. Just give life a hope!
But still, it is always okay to be fat right? Everything is in the mind. Not your body.
I am a jelly. My arms wobble when I shake hands with. My cheeks try to kiss my eyes and fail when I run. I look like a sweet potato. Overweight people tend to be happier than skinny ones. I’m not going to boast about me anymore. I can smell your jealousy (lol!). I always say this again and again. It is okay to be fat! Again? It is okay to be fat dude!
Yes, that’s me and my journey from 78 to 56 kgs!
Emotional huh? Believe me or not, I did nothing to be 56 (frankly just drank tons of water. Wrong units again!) I was taunted, emotionally abused. That wasn’t anybody’s fault. ‘I’ was my fault, and was very weak in the mind, lacked confidence. It’s me who gave them the freedom to judge my personality, my physique. ‘I’ happened to be prone to all nonsense stuff. That inferior feeling made me lose 14 years of satisfaction, fulfillment and most importantly, confidence. Certainly, if I were the same person I am now mentally back then, I would have met success, my desires and live in complete peace and satisfaction, a little earlier. (I still have time though! Hopeful that I realized at least now).
AN APPEAL- WHY IT’S OKAY TO BE FAT
Most noteworthy, my humble appeal to every one of you is not to regret like me! I know, people snigger at you and stare, though they don’t say on your face when you eat. It happens as if they are disgusted about your size so much that you should not eat anymore. Who gives a shit! Fuse them! Falalalala lalalaaa… We all are blessed with a size by which we are more easily visible, even from far distances (lame, I’ll stop joking).
THE ONLY THING THAT YOU SHOULD CONSIDER DOING
The supreme, powerful and influential thing that I learned throughout my journey till date is to remain confident however you are, or in any situation you get yourself into. We all live in a society where the best quality of a person is to judge the other( yes yes, it is a satire!). You cannot change these minds. Time to change! Be confident! Keep your chin(s) up. Fuse inferiority, time to go! Woohoo! Tick-tick-tick-tick!
Furthermore, it doesn’t mind however you are! But do your part. Check your health, always stay fit and confident. Only confident minds permitted! No time for penalties. Tick-tick-tick..!
“Remain confident however you are, or in any situation you get yourself into.
Time to change! Be confident! Keep your chin(s) up ,Fuse inferiority, time to go!”
“A day would come where you’ll no longer worry about how you are! The unhealthy part of your world would be jealous!”
